Open position: Postdoctoral Fellow — Heart Regeneration | Cui Lab

The Cui Lab at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School is seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral fellow to join our team.

Our lab seeks to understand a fundamental question in regenerative biology: Why can the newborn heart regenerate after injury, while the adult heart cannot? We study the cellular and molecular programs that enable neonatal heart regeneration and explore how these programs can be reactivated to promote repair in the adult heart.

Current areas of research include the identity and regulation of regenerative cardiomyocytes, cell–cell communication within the regenerative microenvironment, proteome remodeling and adaptive stress responses during regeneration, immune regulation of tissue repair, and high-throughput in vivo functional screens for regenerative factors. Our work integrates single-cell and spatial genomics, genetic mouse models, AAV-based functional screening and gene delivery, molecular and cellular biology, and computational approaches.

We are particularly interested in candidates who are excited about asking fundamental biological questions and translating mechanistic discoveries into new strategies for heart repair. Applicants with a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. and a strong background in cardiovascular biology, developmental or regenerative biology, molecular genetics, cell biology, genomics, or related fields are encouraged to apply. Experience with mouse models, AAV technologies, single-cell/spatial genomics, molecular biology, imaging, or computational analysis would be advantageous.

The Cui Lab is a collaborative and interdisciplinary group spanning the Department of Cardiology at Boston Children’s Hospital and the Department of Genetics at Harvard Medical School. We value rigorous science, creativity, intellectual curiosity, collaboration, and mutual support. Postdoctoral fellows will have opportunities to develop independent research directions, learn complementary experimental and computational approaches, collaborate across the Harvard research community, and receive strong mentorship toward their future career goals.

To apply: Please send a CV, a brief description of your previous research and future research interests, and contact information for three references to Miao.Cui@childrens.harvard.edu.
